There’s still time to hike through some of the most brilliant fall colours you’ll find anywhere in Ontario.
Foley Mountain, which overlooks the village of Westport, is a particularly beautiful place this time of year. The Foley Mountain Conservation Area is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This is a perfect time of year to hike the 10 km of trails through 325 hectares.
We featured Foley Mountain in the latest issue of Front Porch Life. While you’re in Westport, swing by the model home at Watercolour to pick up a copy. The latest issue features profiles of fascinating people, a yummy fall recipe, and an interesting article about the technology that goes into a Net Zero Ready home.

Fine food after a brisk walk
Foodies love Westport and nearby Frontenac County.
Scheuermann Winery is open for lunch on Friday and Saturday this week. Check their website for hours. The vineyard has a wood-fired pizza oven and a famous wood grill menu. And of course, you can wash the delicious food down with a glass of their excellent wine.
Belong in Sharbot Lake is another great choice for food. It’s open through the fall and winter. Celebrity chef Brad Long features food from local farms in his cooking.
Another great choice for local food is the Cove Inn. Seamus Cowan and his staff serve fantastic flavours and often have live music in the evenings.
Check the website of your favourite local restaurant for their fall and winter hours.
