Watercolour is surrounded by water. The Upper Rideau Lake, Mill Pond and Westport Sand Lake. Connected streams and a vast array of nearby lakes make Westport a destination for spending time in the pristine beauty of the area. Living in a home in Watercolour means you are at the intersection of two UNESCO World Sites, the Rideau Canal and the Frontenac Arch Biosphere.

We are kicking off 2026 with a celebration of something that happened in 2025!

In November 2025, the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) achieved a major milestone for the Frontenac Arch, directly benefiting the environment surrounding our precious village of Westport. The project secured nearly 350 hectares of critical forest, wetland and freshwater shorelines in three key areas.

For Westport, this protection extends to nearby Christie Lake Nature Reserve, which will maintain 1.2km of undeveloped shoreline and a 33-square-kilometre block of intact habitat protected in the Frontenac Provincial Park. The preservation contributes to natural resilience and biodiversity support. In addition, the landscape connectivity reinforces the value of the “A2A” corridor, a globally significant land bridge connecting the Algonquin Highlands to the Adirondack Mountains.

With this latest addition, the NCC and its partners have now conserved over 3,200 hectares in the Frontenac Arch.

If you’re ready to live surrounded by nature and connected to neighbours, visit us in Watercolour. There really isn’t anywhere quite like Westport. Discover your place to belong in nature.

NEW HILLTOP PARK ART

Watercolour has a new landmark in the village! Our Hilltop Park is open for trail walking and enjoying the year-round panoramic views. You’ll also meet our new trail mascot. Created by an Ontario artist, this is one of more art in the park to come!
