Winter in Westport is NOT boring!

So many of us seem to find the winter hard to endure, and as we age it seems to get even harder.

But that doesn’t have to be the way you experience winter. Yes, the great outdoors await in Westport for those who enjoy cross country skiing and hiking with trails right outside your doorstep.

If that’s not your scene, waiting by the window for the first signs of spring doesn’t have to be your plight. Living in a connected community means people take time to appreciate so many different hobbies and activities that can be indoors.

☑ Rideau Lakes ArtistAssociation offers monthly meetings with “paint-ins” where artists gather to learn, create and share their passion for art.

☑ The Royal Canadian Legion in Westport offers euchre, cribbage and bingo nights.

☑ The North Crosby Community Centre is a hub for sports activities and a community centre with drop in coffee times, quilting sessions to create and donate quilts to veterans, some exercise and yoga classes too!

☑ The WTC Arena in Westport is home to the Westport Rideaus, a Junior C team whose season is over now, but indoor skating at the arena can be a fun way to keep fit and meet new friends.

☑ If Lunch & Learns are what you’re looking for, the Westport and Area Seniors Association gathers the secondTuesday of every month for lunch at The Cove Country Inn to learn from guest speakers.

☑ Stroll over to the Westport Public Library and borrow a book or two to enjoy. Online portals for content are also available.

☑ Westport Fitness is right around the corner from homes in Watercolour. Open 24/7 you can keep up your fitness goals indoors.

☑ And as soon as the snow melts, you can join an enthusiastic group who are members of the Rideau Lakes Pickleball Club. With 4 courts and a beautiful new surface — removing what was affectionately known as the Newboro bounce 🙂 — this is a members-only club. Players have been known to shovel off the courts to play whenever conditions permit. Only 8 minutes from homes in Watercolour you can enjoy some of Eastern Ontario’s best courts.

Walkable from Watercolour are some fine eateries and the renowned Cove Inn, where musical performances abound and people connect over good food in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
